MIO's Green Design Store in Phili

MIO‘s clever sustainably-crafted furniture, lighting, housewares, and clothing is thrilled to announce that the company just launched a creatively-outfitted retail store in Philadelphia that displays all of their eco wares in a gallery-style setting. Founded in 2001 by brothers Jamie and Issac Salm, MIO is a two-tiered green business that offers product development consulting services for clients like Target and Anthropologie, while using the same philosophy of sustainable design to produce their own line of products. In the new retail space you will find products with trendy graphic flare, such as their pixelated houndstooth trivet made from cork and other products that exemplify MIO’s approach to closed loop manufacturing and green materials sourcing, like their wool Softbowls.

MIO products are always available for web purchase, but their new brick and mortar shop offers the opportunity to touch and feel the goods up close while taking advantage of the extensive eco product knowledge the staff has to offer. Each product has an “Eco Stats” scorecard that explains a range of attributes — from the use of renewable materials to recyclability and biodegradability. For example, MIO’s hanging Bendant Lamp has recycled content, is recyclable, is locally sourced, has a low-VOC environmentally preferable finish, and has efficient flat-pack packaging.
